As we approach the end of 2013, it is a time to reflect and look ahead; how were we successful in the channel this year and what can we do to sustain and build on that success in 2014 and 2015? At EMC, the saying goes that EMC2 stands for “Everything Must Change - Constantly” – we never rest on our laurels, but look for areas where we can expand and grow our business. One such area is in the value and success of our partnerships with distributors. Distributors are an increasingly valuable asset to our channel business. They provide our customers with demo capability, technical expertise and financial assistance which support the sale of EMC products and services on a global scale. Importantly, they ease the challenges of the traditional sales cycle and provide our sales teams with invaluable support. Just as we are thankful for the efforts of our distributors, it is clear that they view us as a valuable business partner as well!
Tech Data, one of the world's leading wholesale distributors of IT products, services and solutions, awarded EMC with the Growth Vendor Partner of the Year award this November. We are particularly excited about this award because it highlights the efforts EMC is making in the distributor arena. Tech Data grew its EMC business by 151% in 2012 and in 2013 they added 11 EMC-focused employees, dedicating a total of 29 Tech Data employees to selling EMC products and solutions. We aim to build our relationship with Tech Data further in 2014, as our continued success with Tech Data undoubtedly brings dynamic solutions to partners and customers more quickly and efficiently.
Ingram Micro, the world’s biggest wholesale technology distributor, awarded EMC with the Data Center Vendor of the Year Award at its 2013 U.S. Smart Partner Awards event that was held in October. These awards recognize top-performing IT vendor partners in the US and we are thrilled to be receiving this honor. Our Ingram Micro partnership continues to grow at an accelerated level. One of the faster growing EMC segments has been the backup and recovery business. One of the drivers of this growth is a result of the efforts of the Ingram Micro field technical consultants who have encouraged Ingram Micro resellers to complete over 200 backup and recovery assessments with their end users in 2013!Additionally, in 2014 Ingram Micro will grow their VSPEX practice by providing expanded assembly and integration services for their resellers! The goal of this expanded service offering from Ingram is to help our customers build the VSPEX solution that best fits their needs, speed up deployment timelines, and enhance the overall customer experience.
While we feel it is a privilege to receive these awards, it is the benefit our distributors bring to engagements with our customers that we value most. As we look ahead to 2014 and beyond, we know that distributors will continue to be increasingly vital to our success. We will continue to grow our partnerships with Tech Data and Ingram Micro and further establish our relationships with companies like Arrow and Avnet – two of our longest serving distributors. Overall, when we work with our distributors, together we provide the most beneficial, high performance cloud and big data solutions in the IT industry!
Thank you, Tech Data and Ingram Micro – here’s to another year of channel success! |
